What Kinds of Christmas Trees Grow in Arkansas?
You won’t typically find Fraser Firs and some other popular northern Christmas trees growing in Arkansas fields. Our climate is better suited to varieties such as Virginia Pine, Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire, Murray Cypress and Blue Ice Cypress.
That doesn’t mean you can’t buy a Fraser Fir in Arkansas.
Many Christmas tree farms bring fresh-cut Fraser Firs and other varieties in from cooler parts of the country, so you can often choose between an Arkansas-grown tree and one of the more traditional northern varieties.
Tips for Visiting an Arkansas Christmas Tree Farm
The biggest piece of advice is simple: check before you go.
Christmas tree farms aren’t quite like regular retail stores. Weather matters, the crop matters and tree availability can change quickly. Some farms also sell out well before Christmas.
If you want the widest selection, consider going earlier in the season.
Some farms let you cut your own tree while others will cut it for you. Many will also shake, bale and help load your tree onto your vehicle.
