We were recently in Northwest Arkansas in the town of Gravette and decided to pop into the Can Do Hardware Store.
It looks like any other hardware store from the outside. But if you step inside you will quickly realize that this place is WAY more than a hardware store!

If you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and stop by the Can Do Hardware Store.
Old-fashioned candy
You will know immediately upon entering the front door that you are somewhere unique because…CANDY.
In case you didn’t know the writers of this blog are a mother-daughter duo. The mother, Karen, is writing this post. If you are, ahem, of a certain age, then this candy will be nostalgic in all the best possible ways.
They have rows and rows of sentimental sweets.
You’ll find SO many flavors of taffy, striped stick candies, every kind of Pez head, fizzy candies, and those little wax coke bottles that we all used to love for some strange reason.
I saw sweets that I hadn’t thought of in years.
Of course there are all the modern candies, too! Nerds, and Reese’s, and all the stuff my grandchildren love, but also some fancy stuff like a really great selection of chocolate bars.
And you will NOT want to miss checking out their sodas. Honestly, I’ve never seen so many choices of unique sodas!
There were so many different kinds that I bet it would take you months to try them all if you had a new one every day.
Harry Potter Inspired Room
Turn to the left from the candy room and you will discover that you’ve wandered into a section of the Can Do Hardware store that was inspired by Harry Potter.
The lights are dim, you wind through dark hallways, and there are doors that talk to you when you try to open them.
There’s a whole magic section here with potion bottles, wands, magic tricks, and Hogwarts-style trinkets to please any Harry Potter lover. I half expected a broomstick to lift off the floor.
In this section you will also find a lot of old-fashioned novelty toys.
And…A Hardware Store
Walk on to the back of the Can Do Hardware Store and you’ll find a large warehouse area with, surprise, hardware!
It’s a big, well-organized hardware store, too!
There are some toys in here as well. Bouncy balls and things that you would play with outdoors, but mostly you’ll find actual hardware. There are paints, and nails, and caulk, and whatever you might need.
Old West Area
Off to one end of the hardware store there is an old west area.
This is where you will find all the paraphernalia for your little cowboy or cowgirl. There are hats, and toy horses, those old pop guns that every kid used to have, and holsters, and more.
Not only that, we happened to visit the Can Do Hardware Store on “chick day.”
Yep, they were selling baby chicks and ducklings in this part of the store on the day we visited.
Of course the chicks were adorably fluffy, chirping nonstop, and instantly made me want to build a little backyard coop. My granddaughter was with us and she loved them!
Plan Ahead for your visit to the Can Do Hardware Store
You can tell that the owners of the store have heart and a great sense of humor.
I mean, do you know of any other hardware store where you can buy a hammer, some primer, a handful of chocolate malt balls, a Hogwarts wand, and a fuzzy chick all in one stop?
One tip, give yourself plenty of time and bring a little extra money because you WILL stay longer than expected and you WILL leave with something you didn’t know you needed!
