Petit Jean State Park offers a variety of different accommodations within the park. However, there are also some great places to stay near Petit Jean State Park such as small hotels, VRBOs, and Airbnbs.

Here is our list of accommodations located in Petit Jean State Park, as well as some of the best places to stay near this amazing state park!

The Wonders of Petit Jean State Park

Petit Jean is without a doubt one of the best state parks in Arkansas. It has everything!

At Petit Jean State Park you will find abundant natural beauty, great hiking, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state, stunning CCC built buildings, a restaurant, ancient pictograms in a bluff cave, swimming pools, picnic areas, playgrounds, fishing, a tennis and basketball court…

In other words, it is a perfect place to get away from it all while still having all the amenities you could possibly want!

You might also be interested in learning about: Seven Hollows Trail which is one of our favorite hikes in the state park. And Rock House Cave where you can see amazing ancient pictographs.

Accommodations In the Park

It is important to know that this is a very popular park.

The accommodations, especially on the weekends, are often fully booked. Do try to reserve your spaces, including campsites, well in advance.

Mather Lodge

Petit Jean is one of only 5 Arkansas state parks with lodges.

Mather Lodge is a gorgeous CCC built rustic wood and stone structure. It has a superb location with a gorgeous view overlooking the Cedar Creek Canyon. You will find this to be a perfect place to watch the sunset.

This building is where the dining room and 1 of the gift shops are located. There is also a swimming pool that is available for the use of lodge and cabin guests.

The lodge has 24 rooms.

We have stayed here several times for various events. Do be aware that the rooms are not large or luxurious. However, they are clean and comfortable.

Cabins

Most of the park’s 33 cabins are near the lodge, although one is a short drive away.

Ten of the cabins are older stone and wood structures and were built by the CCC. There are also five more modern duplexes. Do check carefully when reserving cabins to make sure that they everything you need. 21 of them have full kitchens while others only have a mini-fridge and a microwave.

Many of the cabins are spaced along the bluff of Cedar Creek Canyon which will give you a beautiful view. However, if you are traveling with children do be aware that many areas of the park, including behind many of the cabins you will find a sheer drop off.

I would suggest calling to reserve cabins so that you can ask questions about the configuration of each one. There are 1 bedroom, 3 bedroom and studio style cabins.

Camping and Yurts

Petit Jean State Park is especially popular with campers. There are 125 campsites. This includes wooded sites, lake-view sites, pull through and back in sites.

Thirty-five of the sites, Class AAA, have 50 amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups. Ninety Class B sites offer 30 amp electrical and water hookups.

Each of the four campground areas has a bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets.

You will definitely want to reserve your campsite as this tends to be a very busy park.

If you are looking for something that is a cross between camping and a cabin then check out the yurts! The park offers four Yurts which are available to rent year-round. The rental includes cots, a lantern, stove, and ice chest.

This is perfect for those who don’t own their own camping equipment.

One thing that I like about the Yurts is that they are located near Lake Bailey and have a nice lake view.

The other two state parks on the Tri-peaks are:

Both are exceptional parks and Mount Magazine also happens to be the highest point in Arkansas.

The second highest point in Arkansas is at Queen Wilhelmina State Park in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains near the small town of Mena, Arkansas.

Places to stay near Petit Jean State Park

There are a few hotels in the nearby town of Morrilton, Arkansas. However, most of these are still about a 25 minute drive from the state park.

We are sharing places to stay near Petit Jean State Park.

All of these listed are actually on the mountain. This is important because the drive to and from town is steep and winding. If you stay on the mountain you are much closer to all the park activities.

Hope that this helps you find a great place to stay during your visit to Petit Jean State Park!

Beaumont Cottages (VRBO)

We recently stayed in one of the Beaumont Cottages and they are simply amazing! These are three newer cottages that have stunning views.

The three cottages are all on the same property along the edge of Petit Jean Mountain and are all named after places in the park.

The Bear Cave is family friendly with bunk beds in one room and will sleep 6 people.

The Cedar Falls Cabin is a bright and airy 2 bedroom 2 bath.

The Seven Hollows Cabin, which is where we stayed, is similar to the Cedar Falls Cabin, but with a darker, and so pretty, color scheme.

Cedar Falls Motel (Expedia)

Cedar Falls Motel is an old-fashioned motor court on the mountain just minutes from the park.

The accommodations are basic, but clean and comfortable. The hosts are wonderful and will go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Edge House – Petit Jean Cabin with Stunning View (VRBO)

The Edge House on Petit Jean mountain is private and secluded and has stunning views. It is situated on 1.5 acres along the north brow of the mountain with gorgeous views of the Arkansas River and the valley below.

This three bedroom house will provide the perfect escape from city life.

Petit Jean Coffeehouse King Room (VRBO)

The Petit Jean Coffeehouse is a fixture on the mountain. In fact, it is a must visit place during your visit. But did you know that the coffeehouse also has a luxury King room accommodation?

The room has its own private entrance and the walls are double insulated. However, the coffee shop does open at 6:30 so this stay is not recommended unless you are an early riser.

On the other hand, if you are an early riser what could be better than being greeted upon waking by the smell of baked goods and coffee!

Mammaw’s Mountaintop Retreat (VRBO)

Mammaw’s Mountaintop Retreat combines the best of indoor and outdoor living. This is a three bedroom 2 bath house that will sleep 8 people.

It is located on 1.38 acres and is across the street from Petit Jean State Park and Lake Bailey. Here you will find ample space both outdoors and inside.

In my opinion this is a perfect home for a family with children who are visiting Petit Jean State Park.

Petit Jean Cliffside Retreat (VRBO)

Petit Jean Cliffside Retreat is a 4800 sq ft home that sits right at the edge of Petit Jean Mountain. This is a gated home with 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, 2 large balconies, a full eat-in kitchen, a media room and other living areas.

The views are also phenomenal. How perfect would this house be for a large group!

Petit Jean Cabin with Stunning View (Airbnb)

This is a beautiful cabin on 10 acres! It has a large screened-in porch where you can enjoy gorgeous views. In the main cabin there is a a king bedroom and a loft with another king and 2 twin beds.

There is also a detached bunkhouse only a few feet from the cabin with 4 sets of bunkbeds! This makes this a perfect place for a reunion, a retreat, or a getaway for several families.

Petit Jean Mountaintop Retreat (VRBO)

Petit Jean Mountaintop Retreat has a beautiful and peaceful setting on the south brow of Petit Jean Mountain. You can enjoy your morning coffee on the deck while admiring the valley below.

There is also a wood burning fireplace, full kitchen with eating area, formal dining room, living room, 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

View off of the south rim of Petit Jean Mountain. You can see blue skies and some puffy clouds in the sky. The rest of the photo (lower 2/3) is a green landscape of trees, pastures, and mountains in the distance. Pin
