High Bank Twin Falls, aka High Bank Twins, is a stunning double waterfall located near the Mulberry River on Arkansas Highway 215.
I know this term gets overused but this waterfall really is a bit of a hidden gem. It is located very near the highway, but you can’t see it from the road. I’ve never seen anyone else there when I’ve visited.
Like many waterfalls in Arkansas this one is best after a good rainfall. The flow was moderate while we were there most recently but it can really get going and be stunning after a good rain.

Getting to the Trailhead of High Bank Twin Falls
The trailhead for the falls is located on Arkansas Highway 215 which begins off of Highway 23 at Cass and runs approximately 16 miles to Oark. This is a pretty highway that runs along the gorgeous Mulberry River!
You will want to park at the High Bank Canoe Launch. This has a good sized parking area and is well marked. It is also nice to see the river from there.
To get to the trailhead take a right onto the shoulder of the highway from the parking lot, cross the highway when it is safe and just across a road bridge over a stream you will see the trailhead go off into the woods on your left.
The Trail and Falls
This is a short trail in and back trail that is only about .3 miles one way. It is considered moderate but for the most part there is very little elevation.
It starts out pretty flat as you can see in the photo above. However, as you near the falls it gets rougher and there will be plenty of rock scrambling that you will have to do. The ground can also be wet and slippery as you will be hiking near the stream.
We did take our daughter with us on this hike though and although we had to help her a lot she did fine.
There are beautiful rock formations along the way as well as smaller cascades and falls. You will cross another small stream on your right as you walk to the main falls. Be sure and explore there a bit as there is a beautiful bonus waterfall.
After that keep going and you will come face to face with High Bank Twin Falls. As the name implies this is a dual waterfall.
The water tumbles about 70 feet off the cliff (or high bank). About halfway down it hits an outcropping of rocks before slipping in to the pool below.
When to Visit High Bank Twin Falls
This is one that you will definitely only want to visit when there has been substantial rainfall. It tends to dry up in the summer.
We were there on a nice day in early winter. I absolutely love winter hiking in Arkansas! You don’t have to worry about bugs or snakes or the heat!
My first ever visit to High Bank Twin Falls was in the spring. Because the surrounding area is rich with vegetation and rock formations it can make you feel as if you are in a tranquil, tropical paradise once the foliage turns green.
If there has been enough rain in the summer for the water to be flowing then the pool at the base of the falls can serve as a refreshing spot for wading or cooling off.
In the fall, the surrounding foliage bursts into vibrant hues of red, orange, and gold, making it an ideal time for photography enthusiasts to capture the beauty of this area.
